Al-Nasr is one of the strongest clubs in Saudi Arabia and all of Asia. Based in the Saudi capital of Ryadh, the club was founded in 1955. It has boasted some of the best Asian players of all time, including Majed Abdullah, Fahd Al-Herafy, and Mohsain Al-Jam'aan. Well-known foreigners to pass through the Al-Nasr dressing room include Nashaat Akram (Iraq), Emad el Nahaas (Egypt), Denilson (Brazil), and Hristo Stoichkov (Bulgaria). Al-Nasr was the first team from the Asian continent to participate in the 2000 Club World Cup, during which they played and lost to Real Madrdi 3-1 (goals by Anelka, Raúl, and Savio). Among the long list of titles and championships figure 15 Saudi Premier Leagues, seven King's Cups, and three Saudi Federation Cups.

In the international arena the club won the 1998 Asian Cup Winner's Cup and Asian Super Cup, two Gulf Club Champions Cups (1996, 1997), and one Damascus International Cup (2004).

Majed Abdullah was a unique football player, probably the best to be born in Saudi Arabia. A perfect example of loyalty, his close to 20-year long career took place at Al-Nasr, becoming the league's top-scorer six times. His years of loyalty will be rewarded with a tribute match between his team and Real Madrid.

Majed Abdullah was born in 1959 and began playing football coached by his father at Al-Nasr's youth system when he was 10 years old. He soon began to stand out as a striker depite starting his football days as a goalkeeper due to his great height. His excellent work on the team coached by the Yugoslavian Brocic got him promoted to the first team, for which he eventaually netted 533 strikes throughout his career.

Abdullah was called up with his country's Under-20 national team for a firendly in Iran. The prestige he earned during the enocunter opened the doors of the first national team for him, making his debut with only 18 years of age and having only played 5 games in the First Division. Two goals and a brilliant performance against Benfica crowned him as a great player both for his club and Saudi Arabia, whom he helped qualify for the 1994 World Cup. At 35, he was the team's captain in the torurnament, but an injury kept him on the bench, seeing how Sweeden (who won the Bronze medal) eliminated them in the Last 16 round. After the World Cup, Majed Abdullah retired, leaving great memories for football fans in his country. He scored 67 goals for his national team, more than any other player before or after him.
