The Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Aftermath
![]() 01. A man looks out over an area swept by a tsunami following an earthquake in Sendai City, northeastern Japan March 12, 2011. Japan confronted devastation along its northeastern coast on Saturday, with fires raging and parts of some cities under water after a massive earthquake and tsunami that likely killed at least 1,000 people. REUTERS/Kyodo One day after the massive 8.9 earthquake and tsunami which rocked Japan yesterday the world is starting to get an idea of the scope of the disaster. Officially around 600 people have died, but it is feared many hundreds more will be added to this tally. Roads, factories, airports and ports lie in ruin and this is hampering the rescue efforts. No to mention the Fukushima I nuclear powerplant going into meltdown mode. We wish the people of Japan a speedy return to their normal dignified lives. ![]() 02.
